The Grand Courtyard of Ross Castle will be our accommodations for the week, located just eleven miles from Galway City, at the entrance to Connemara. This magnificent property is situated on the shores of Ross Lake. The 120-acre estate offers accommodations in a glorious setting of a private lake and parklands, mountains, and forests.
Ross Castle, built during the 16th century, has been meticulously restored to contemporary standards and complimented with tasteful furnishings. Every window captures magical views of rolling landscape, the private lake and parklands.
The grounds of the estate offer tennis, boating, football or softball on the sixteen-acre front lawn, and if you still need a little more exercise after a day of walking or cycling you can go for a jog through the forest. There is also a heated indoor swimming pool, table tennis and a Billiards Room.
The Castle Courtyard is an ideal location for our group with interconnecting units allowing us to stay in one location without letting us feel overwhelmed by our numbers. The wing of the castle forms one side of the courtyard, Catherines's Cottage is on the east side of the courtyard and the St. George Cottage faces west. There is also a private chapel that completes the quadrangle.
Each of the cottages comes with a complete kitchen, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and dryer and all the bathrooms are completely tiled and have showers and heated towel rails. Water pressure meets or exceeds US standards.
We will enjoy all of our meals, breakfast and dinners, together as a group, allowing us to share our stories from the previous days adventures.
