Hello Walkers, Riders and Crewmembers!

Traveling to Italy:

All Participants must be in the starting town of Buonconvento, Italy on Sunday September 12th, 2010 by 6pm.

We think it's best if you get to Italy a day early, this means leaving the US on Friday and arriving in Italy on Saturday morning.  We feel the best city to fly into is Rome (FCO).  From the airport there is an express train directly into the city, it runs every hour or less and costs about 11 Euro.  It is easy to get a hotel room next to the train station in downtown Rome, this makes for less walking around with your luggage.  (We'll have hotel info in the coming months) 

Since you are now at the train station in Rome, you might want to think about getting your train ticket for your trip to Buonconvento.  There are many, many self service ticket machines at the stations and they are very easy to use, and all have English translations.  There is no direct service to Buonconvento so you will have to connect, this usually happens in Grosotto, Italy.  You can look online for train schedules at www.trenitalia.com there is an English translation link at the top of the page.  WE DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING YOUR TICKETS ONLINE, buy your ticket when you get to the Rome train station at the self service ticket machines.

Then on Sunday morning, get to the train station, buy your train ticket (if you have not already) at any of the many self service ticket machines and get on the train.  (We'll have more info on this in the coming months as well.)  You will have to make a connection, so don't miss it and then we'll meet you at the train station in Buonconvento and we'll take you to the Villa.
